Bikram Yoga Comox Valley

Staff & Instructors

Staff

Here at Bikram yoga we strive to create and maintain a calm, comfortable, and positive environment for all. We have several front desk staff who ensure the smooth running of the facility from signing you in, to making sure there’s enough loo roll to go around!!!

All staff are required to practice regularly, which affords them the ability to answer any basic questions you may have about class: eg. what to wear, what to bring, when to drink etc.

Instructors

All of our instructors have been certified by Bikram, having successfully completed an intensive 9 week training program encompassing the following:

  • Passing a basic Anatomy Course
  • Participating in daily posture clinics
  • Attending a wide variety of lectures from health care professionals such as, MD’s, ND’S, and  Chiropractors

Currently we have four instructors each bringing their own unique talents and skills:

Miss Emily Dahl

Miss Emily DahlHello, my name is Emily Dahl. Born January twenty-fourth 1974. Throughout school years I enjoyed the sports volleyball, soccer, basketball, and x-country running. Whereby I experienced re-occurring injuries to my ankle and knee joints. After several years of sporadic attempts to engage the lifestyle of regular yoga practice, I finally succeeded upon my discovery of Bikram yoga. Which stole my heart so much so that I did two classes the first day I tried it. And knew by one month, that a teacher I wanted to be. With six months regular practice, seven days a week I signed up for teacher training. An unforgettable lifetime experience. Healing injuries inside and out. I love you Bikram. Thank you for making the world better. Namaste.

Kathleen Brett

Kathleen BrettKathleen Brett was born in Campbell River and grew up in the Comox Valley.
She completed a Bachelor of Music degree with Honours at Sir Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario and went on to the Young Artists program at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto. Her career in opera and concert has spanned over two decades during which time she has performed leading roles with many of the foremost opera companies and orchestras in North America and Europe including: New York City Opera, Lincoln Center, Royal Opera, Covent Garden, Opera de Monte Carlo, Los Angeles, Dallas, San Francisco, Teatro Municipal, Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, to name just a few.

Some opera colleagues introduced her to Bikram Yoga, but it wasn’t until she discovered a Bikram Yoga studio in her home town that she took a first class, only to fall in love with the practice immediately! Encouraged and inspired by her teacher and studio owner, Natasha Milanovich, Kathleen attended the first nine week teacher training in Hawaii, Spring 2007. Kathleen is thrilled to join the Comox Valley Bikram studio as a new teacher.
